Conte's Northwest Frontier range. Click on the picture to see a full treatment of this classic Barzso set!
Barzso's Sioux Buffalo Hunt.
This is one of the buffalo from Ron Barzso's Buffalo hunt playset. I've been wanting to play around with a winter look.
This is a handmade wood cabin made by Mike Luteran. 9/24/11 The best part of my trip down to the OTSN show was discovering Mike Luteran's incredible painted Marx wagons, beautifully painted, with custom harnessed horses. I have dreamed of creating a piece like this...but he did it. He had four of these...two CSA and two USA. I bought 'em all. I am one happy playset addict. I also picked up Traverse Dioramics' mountain pass scenic piece. I thought it set this masterpiece off beautifully.
He also had a few painted plastic figures. I couldn't resist this Reb flagbearer.
Dreams do come true!
Here's a 7th Cavaly version.
9/23/11 This is a picture of Ron Barzso's massive Sioux Buffalo Hunt display in the fifth floor lobby of the Schaumburg Hyatt where Toy Soldier Collectors, manufacturers and dealers from around the world have gathered for 'OTSN'. Jim Clouse sculpted the incredible arroyo diorama base to set off this super-sized version of Ron's new playset. I added the sky background. Click on the picture for more pictures from Chicago. Hopefully the page will get posted today

This is the scenario I am workng on today. I have got the terrain ready, but I am struggling to get good, clear pictures that capture the grandeur of this set up.

I spent most of August painting up some plastic figures. I've had the Paragon Cavalry and Apaches for a while but hadn't done anything with them. So I painted some of them up, along with some of the casualty figures from Toy Soldiers of San Diego, and added them to the ranks of my Indian Wars collection. They do paint up nice.
In addition to the Paragon Cavalry and the TSSD Indians, there are also a number of Plastic Underground figures present as well. I bought these painted and whoever does the paintng has serious talent. There are also a few Reamsa, Andy Gard, Airfix, Marx and Britains Deetail figures scattered about in the set up. If you are lookihng for a source of plastic figures, vist our friends at hobbybunker.com. Tell them the Playsetaddict sent you.

I've been anxiously waiting for Conte's new Romans to be released. Today, it occurred to me that there were already plenty of cool figures to play with. What do you think of my swamp skirmish?
These were the days of magic...
I think the Flying Barbarian set released by Conte last year is the most dynamic Roman set on the market. That may not be the case for long because Conte is preparing to release some new sets that may displace it from the top of my list. Go to http://conteco.com to see what's coming. Be sure you scroll down until you see the picture of the barbarians pulling a flaming log into the Roman ranks. 8/18/11
I've been spending most of my 'Hobby Time' painting up some plastic figures. Here are a couple of the Cunnyngham Confederates.
They paint up pretty nice. I did forget how long it takes to paint up a batch of figures. I must be slowing down as I get older. 7/4/11 Happy 4th of July! If you want to see more images from this large ACW battlescene, click on the picture. 6/10/11
Here's another shelf display featuring Conte plastic and single color metal figures.
6/1/11 I added another shelf display today...Stamford Bridge.
5/30/11 I've been doing some more work in the basement. Here are a couple more shelf displays. On top is an Imex castle with a whole bunch of painted kinights I bought years ago but have never set up. Below is my Ultimate Fort Apache featuring Barzo's incredible fort and a bezillion conversions. The Fort Apache Set-Up features lots of cavalry in turquoise, Frontiersmen in tan and indians in red-brown, yellow and cream. The Longcoats are trying to get the wagons into the fort. There are lots more pictures of this set-up on another page. Click any of the images above to see the whole photo treatment.
I finally got my Zulu reinforcements from Conte! Click on the picture to go to the new Zulu War Page.
I've been cleaning my basement and today I set up shelf displays of my Ultimate Wagon Train and the Jesse James set.

The Legend of Jesse James playset! Once upon a time Marx planned on releasing the set, but they changed their mind, Now, 50 years later, the set is resurfacing, thanks to Nostalgia Toy Boxes and some old fashioned creativity. Ah! What might have been! Click on any of the above pictures to go to see a full treatment of this set.

With the economy the way it is, I had to downsize...I couldn't afford the Magnificent Seven..Had to settle for Los Cinco Locos.
The Conte Spartans are out! These figures, with their posable arms and interchangeable parts, set a new standard for toy soldiers. I show them here up against a bunch of Reamsa figures.
The Bronze and Silver Spartans have been released!
The West is getting wilder again, thanks to Black Hawk Toy Soldiers!
The set Marx should have made...
I don't buy many King and Country Figures, but this one captured my imagination.
Now here's a real Hero...
One of my favorite movies is "The Horse Soldiers". For several years I've wanted to recreate this scene. I knew I could...it was just a matter of finding the time and the space. The Conte SOS guys helped, too. The buildings are by Allan Roberts. I've spent a good portion of the last week making some hedgerows. If you want to see pictures featuring scenic pieces I've made, click on the above picture. The King Tiger was a casualty of a previous skirmish. The tank commander didn't get out...
These are all figures I wish Marx had made...but I had to make them myself. They are part of my "Stuart's Raid" Dreamwish Playset. Conte's "Sons of the South"
I have a great series of pictures of Germans armor moving through a Normandy Town at http://conteco.com/bloggermanarmor.htm
"Wagon Train" by P and P Products. Go to http://pandpmilitaryminiatures.com It's a good time to be collecting World War 2! 40 years after first dreaming of vehicles like these in 1/32nd scale...they're here!
Conte Paratroopers...way way cool!
Is it Real or is it Conte?
Conte's Bloody Omaha Sets
For more pics go to http://conteco.com/blog.htm I invited the TSSD GIs and the single color metal versions of poses that will be in Conte's Bloody Omaha Playset 3to come play. That's about 58 poses in the picture. It is a good time to be collecting WW2!
D Day Diorama. I know you knew that, but I figured I'd label the picture so maybe it would show up on a Google search of "D Day Diorama."
These are Factory Samples of the soon to be released Conte painted plastic GIs. Way cool.
The above two photos are from Joe Carvalho's website, with a little imagin-action added by me. If you like large scale battles of painted figures...you need to check out his site. The pictures take a long time to load for some reason, but I found it worth the wait. www.freewebs.com/joesoldiers is the url. The Outlaw Josey Wales is my all time favorite movie. I have 'dreamed' of a box like this for years. Now, thanks to Ron Lizorty, I have one...and it's a beauty!
Conte's Spartans are here!!!

Over the last year I've picked up a number of these great, hand made western buildings on eBay. Combined with P and P Products incredible line of Western town figures and my own conversion efforts, they make for an incredible Dreamwish Western Town/TV Westerns Playset.
How many characters do you spot?
Click picture for more photos of the Western Town. More added 4/3/04

Here's a few of the figures from my "Stuart's Raid" Playset

P and P's Buffalo Hunt Series....
P and P's Trappers canoe.
For the last several months, I've been working to make some "Playset Dreams" come true. I've always wished Marx had stayed in business. I've wondered what variations of pieces they would put in sets if they kept reworking themes over time. So I decided to make a selection of "Series Infinity" sets. The above is an early prototype of my favorite set...Wagon Train. Click on the picture to see more.

I have been a Lord of the Rings fan since my teen years. How cool is it that Play Along toys has released "Battle Scale" figures from the movies?
Click on the box to see what's inside!
Here is an early shot of my "Stuart's Raid" Playset
Here's an early shot of my Ultimate Custer's Last Stand Playset

Check out these awesome figures from Larry Patterson of P & P products.
The above picture might give you a hint of one of the projects I'm working on...A color-matched Civil War playset with all the union troops in "Custer blue".
I've heard of getting into your hobby, but this is ridiculous!

In March, I had the privilege of photographing this great diorama of Custer's Last Stand made by Nick and Deanna of Toy Soldiers of San Diego.

Someone wanted to see the pics of this set.
